Colton Herta, currently a test driver for Cadillac's Formula 1 team, has successfully earned the final superlicence points needed to compete in the F1 World Championship. By completing his sixth Friday practice session of the 2026 season at Interlagos and surpassing the 100-kilometer threshold, Herta reached the mandatory 40 superlicence points.

This milestone officially qualifies Herta to race in Formula 1, marking a significant step in his motorsport career and potentially opening the door for a future race seat with Cadillac or other teams.

Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas, an established driver with the Cadillac F1 squad, has expressed confidence about retaining his seat for the 2027 season. Despite Herta's progress, Bottas remains bullish on his role within the team, indicating ongoing competition and strategic decisions ahead for Cadillac's driver lineup.
