According to BBC Sport, During the penalty shootout between Fleetwood Town and Arsenal, Fleetwood had to remove a player from the shootout lineup. This was due to the application of the Laws of the Game governing penalty shootouts.

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team explained that when a team has fewer eligible players than the opposing team during a shootout, they must reduce the number of players taking penalties to match the smaller side.

This rule ensures fairness and balance in the shootout, preventing one team from having an advantage by having more players available to take penalties.
