Islam Makhachev Withdraws from UFC 336 Title Fight Against Carlos Prates
UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev has pulled out of his scheduled title defense against Carlos Prates at UFC 336 in Toronto.
According to sports.yahoo.com, Islam Makhachev, the reigning UFC welterweight champion, has withdrawn from his upcoming title fight against No. 1 contender Carlos Prates, which was set for January 30, 2027, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada.
The reason for Makhachev's withdrawal has not been disclosed, and UFC President Dana White has neither confirmed nor denied the report, describing it as "interesting."
With Makhachev out, the UFC has yet to announce plans for Prates, though speculation includes a possible interim title fight against No. 3-ranked Michael Morales.
Makhachev, 34, last defended his title successfully against Ian Garry at UFC 330 in August and holds a professional record of 29 wins and 1 loss.
