Yankees End Roles of Former GMs Omar Minaya and Brian Sabean in Front-Office Restructuring
After a disappointing postseason, the Yankees are revamping their front office by not renewing contracts of special assistants Omar Minaya and Brian Sabean.
According to sports.yahoo.com, The New York Yankees have decided not to renew the contracts of Omar Minaya and Brian Sabean, both former Major League Baseball general managers, as part of a front-office shakeup following the team's recent playoff exit.
Minaya, who previously served as GM for the Montreal Expos and New York Mets, was credited with playing a key role in the Yankees' 2023 trade for Juan Soto and influencing the signing of pitcher Max Fried.
Sabean, known for building three World Series-winning teams as the San Francisco Giants' GM, returned to the Yankees as a senior adviser but will no longer be part of the organization moving forward.
These changes come after the Yankees finished second in the American League East and were swept in the AL Division Series by the Tampa Bay Rays.
